Diseases of the scalp skin

We know numerous disease patterns in the dermatology that can directly affect the hair, the hair follicle or the part of the head covered by hair. Generally, one can differentiate between inflammatory and non-inflammatory diseases of the scalp skin.

So called microbial inflammations – the ones that are caused by bacteria or fungi - belong to the inflammatory forms, as well as so called “sterile inflammations” such as for example eczema of the scalp skin, psoriasis etc.

Among the most frequent forms are neurodermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema as well as alopecia areata.
